3rd I4C Climate Adaptalab

Bergen, Norway

16 Jun 2026 - 18 Jun 2026

The I4C Climate Adaptalab experience rounded out its final edition in Bergen, Norway, following the success of our inaugural event in Paris in 2023 and the second one in Barcelona in 2025.

This year’s focus

The 3rd and final Adaptalab placed a strong emphasis on policy outcomes. Working groups co-created concepts for policy briefs aimed at ensuring the long-term legacy of the I4C project. These briefs built on the key themes addressed by I4C in recent years and translate project insights into concrete policy recommendations. All contributors will be recognised as co-authors.

The resulting policy briefs will also form the foundation of the I4C policy event scheduled to take place in Brussels a few months after the Adaptalab.

Thematic areas:

  • Governance for effective adaptation
  • Co-production & inclusive climate communication
  • Removing barriers to urban climate service innovation
  • Climate data in urban planning

A more detailed description of each theme is available here.

The Adaptalab experience

I4C Climate Adaptalabs are intensive, collaborative events inspired by the hackathon format, designed to stimulate innovation in climate adaptation. Functioning as a co-creation environment, each Adaptalab convenes participants, local experts, and organisers alongside researchers working with climate data. Together, they explore challenges and co-develop solutions to strengthen climate adaptation at the local and European levels.

Adaptalabs are open to experts, innovators, thought leaders, and stakeholders with a professional interest in climate adaptation. Participation is open to all; however, where demand exceeds capacity, priority will be given to researchers and collaborators already engaged in the Adaptalab process.
