On the road for climate action: Following I4C’s ‘Make It Real’ Roadshow journey
In June 2025, we launched the official I4C ‘Make It Real’ Roadshow, a multi-city event series designed to bring climate knowledge, information, and data to life for local practitioners and policymakers throughout Europe.
WHY A ROADSHOW?
The Impetus4Change project is dedicated to making climate knowledge accessible, practical, and actionable. By bridging the gap between scientific research and real-world decision-making, the project empowers cities, policymakers, urban planners, and local communities to transform climate science into tangible, measurable impact. Through tools, resources, and guidance tailored to the needs of diverse stakeholders, I4C enables informed decisions, effective planning, and proactive climate action, fostering resilient and sustainable communities for the future.
What better way to connect science and cities in climate adaptation efforts than through face-to-face interactions? By travelling from city to city, the IMPETUS Pit Stop creates opportunities to exchange ideas in dynamic and engaging ways.

The Roadshow will continue throughout the rest of the project, taking project results straight to the people who are shaping the cities of tomorrow. It’s all about bringing climate information, maps, and analysis tools directly to city planners, policymakers, and communities, making it easier for them to plan, act, and build cities that are ready for the future.
WHY ‘MAKE IT REAL’?
The effects of climate change are not abstract – they are happening now, all around us. Real challenges require evidence-based, data-driven solutions that incorporate near-term climate predictions and other analyses. ‘Climate information’ has the power to drive concrete adaptation plans in cities. This information isn’t just weather or climate-related data; it also considers social, health, and other demographic factors. Decision-makers and local actors need to be empowered to use this information in the most effective ways.

I4C is all about equipping local and regional decision-makers with accurate, accessible near-term climate predictions. By combining short-term climate forecasts with social, health, and environmental insights, this initiative equips decision-makers with the evidence-based solutions and tools needed to inform concrete adaptation plans and respond effectively to today’s climate challenges.
By ‘Make It Real‘, we mean raising awareness of the multitude of climate information that is useful to make climate projections and predictions. It is also an opportunity to bring the project’s experts and findings into the public eye, providing climate information, mapping, and analysis tools directly to those shaping the resilient cities of tomorrow.
OUR FIRST DESTINATION AND SUCCESS: ECCA 2025
The IMPETUS Pit Stop made its inaugural presence at the 7th edition of the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA 2025) in June 2025 in Rimini, Italy. Among the 645 participants from 69 countries, I4C researchers and project coordinators gave presentations and exchanged with sister initiatives (other Horizon Europe projects).

This biennial European climate adaptation conference was an important milestone in our mission, providing an opportunity to engage with experts and involve visitors in our I4C ‘Make It Real!‘ journey. On this occasion, participants had the chance to learn more about the project and take part in the I4C #MakeItReal quiz, which we designed and structured, alongside a serious game that placed them in extreme urban climate scenarios and tested their decision-making skills.
